According to the Yahoo commissioned survey, the green market has grown far beyond its roots as a niche, with 77 percent of consumers identifying themselves as "green." Over half (57 percent) said they made a green purchase decision in the past six months.

Didn't our good friends at GM have an electric car, the EV1, in 1996 that they killed a few short years later? It makes me kinda sad to think that if the R&D $$$ spent on making the Escalade look pretty and the Cavalier look ugly were applied to making zero-emissions engines, Detroit would be in better shape today. I digress... congrats to BMW and I can't wait to see electric Minis darting around city streets.
